Nagila Pre-School

Nagila, which means “rejoice,” is the excellent and highly praised nursery of Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue.  It offers a safe, secure and stimulating setting in which pre-school children are free to develop to their full potential in a friendly and nurturing Jewish environment. The school is purpose built with its own secure outdoor play area, which is used daily and gives the children space to move and learn.

 

The nursery has a maximum of 40 children and at least eight staff are on duty each day. All teachers hold recognised Early Years qualifications.

 

Nagila Nursery is open Monday to Thursday from 8.00am to 3.00pm (and Fridays from 9.00am to 12 noon.

 

Nagila is registered with the London Borough of Barnet and complies fully with all the requirements of The Children Act. Nagila has been judged to be an ‘Outstanding Provider’ by Ofsted three times consecutively – in 2010, 2016 and 2019.

 

Noah’s Arkley

Noah’s Arkley cater for 46 children aged from 18 months to 5 years, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 6pm and 8.30am to 1pm on a Friday. The nursery is open all year round.

 

Most of the children go on to local Jewish Primary Schools.  The nursery prides itself on providing children with a happy, stable and caring environment.  It follows the new Early Years Foundation Stage and curriculum and promotes warm, traditional Jewish values. Noah’s Arkley provides a kosher snack lunch for children staying until 1.30 Monday – Thursday.

Bushey Gan Nursery and Pre-School

Bushey Gan was established over 40 ​years ago by the Bushey United Synagogue. We offer a secure, caring and stimulating environment for ​children aged from 18 months to 5 years, within a warm Jewish atmosphere.

 

​We follow the EYFS and provide extracurricular sessions such as: Spanish, Sports and Stretch n Grow.​


We provide an excellent educational start for children to learn through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as well as learning the basics of Judaism, providing them with essential skills and knowledge for moving on. We are proud to have achieved 2 consecutive ​judgements of ‘Outstanding’ from OFSTED.

 

We have dedicated toilets and nappy changing facilities and the classes open onto an outdoor playground with safety flooring.

 

We offer 15 and 30 hours as well as Early Bird Sessions​

 

The Gan is open 5 days a week term time​ 8:45am – 4 pm Monday to Thursday.  Friday is half day to 12:15 pm. We also offer a catered kosher lunch.

 

The school is registered with Hertfordshire County Council and OFSTED.

 

Chigwell and Hainault United Synagogue Nursery

Chigwell and Hainault United Synagogue Nursery was established in 1980 and is situated in the Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue. We are a registered Pre-School for 2 – 4 year olds and we are open term time only (plus two weeks Summer Scheme), offering flexible days and hours.

 

Our opening times are:  Monday – Friday 9.15 AM – 12.15 pm. We offer an optional Healthy Eating Lunch Club from 12.15 – 1.15 pm Monday – Thursday and extra optional afternoon sessions on Tuesday and Thursdays from 12.15 pm – 3.15 pm (including lunch).

 

Children are accepted after their 2nd birthday but we encourage you to register on our waiting list by completing a registration form available on this site to download or from the nursery.

 

The Nursery offers a secure, caring and stimulating environment in a warm Jewish atmosphere where children can play, enjoy artistic expression and learn to develop their social, emotional and intellectual and physical skills as well as listening and language skills.  This is achieved within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and through the Prime and Specific areas of learning.

 

Our children are taught to respect all members of society as well as their Aunties and to care for one another, their belongings and themselves.

 

They will learn the basics of Judaism, which will provide them with essential knowledge for life in the context of Jewish beliefs and values.

 

Our Nursery accept childcare vouchers, including emergency childcare, 15 hours free Essex County Council funding for 2 year olds (depending on personal circumstances) and 3 & 4 year olds regardless.   We also offer up to 12 hours extended entitlement for 3 year olds.

EAYC Nursery

EAYC Nursery is an orthodox Jewish nursery that attracts modern orthodox families all of whom have a shared commitment to Shabbos, Kashrus and community involvement together with ongoing learning and religious growth. The nursery accepts both girls and boys from the age of two (including those still in nappies) through to five.

 

EAYC Nursery is open Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 12:45pm (during the winter months Fridays close at 12:00pm) with an option to stay in the afternoon up to 14:45. Fruit, vegetables and milk are provided daily and parents are requested to provide parve/milky healthy packed lunches daily.

 

Finchley Reform Synagogue Kindergarten

FRS Kindergarten was established almost 40 years ago.  It is registered for 60 children and they are divided by age into three groups: Chicks, Cygnets and Swans. All the children attend five mornings a week 09.15-12.15 during term time.  The Kindergarten also offers a breakfast club from 8.15-9.15am and an ‘extended day’ session from 12.15pm-2.45pm for an additional charge, to accommodate the needs of working families.

 

FRS Kindergarten is an inclusive Reform Jewish Kindergarten attached to the Synagogue where Jewish religion and culture are a living part of the daily curriculum. Kabbalat Shabbat takes place each Friday with blessings and songs and the Jewish festivals are celebrated as they occur through stories, music, drama, creative work and cookery, and parents and families are often invited to celebrate too.

 

The outcomes of the last OFSTED inspection in 2016, graded the overall quality of the provision as outstanding.  It was reported: “Staff have a superb understanding of each child’s needs.  Children have access to an environment where they are emotionally safe and very confident.  Children behave extremely well, They learn to share, take turns and be mindful of each other.  They learn about their own religion and how to value differences found in others… Children are learning key skills quickly and are remarkably well prepared to move onto school.”

 

 

 

 

Gan Alon

Gan Alon is the Ofsted Outstanding Pre-school at New North London Synagogue. Children start Gan Alon in the term they turn three and stay until they enter Primary school.

 

The Pre-school is open from 9.00am to Midday (Monday-Thursday) and 9.00am-12.15 (Friday).   Thereafter there is an optional hour for lunch (Monday-Thursday) 12.00-1.15pm, a further option to attend up to four afternoon sessions (Monday-Thursday) 1.15-2.30pm and a late afternoon 2.30-3.00pm.

 

New families are welcome to visit, by appointment.

Gan Kinneret

Gan Kinneret has been running for nearly 40 years in the capable hands of the Samson family. We are open term time Monday to Thursday from 8.30am until 4pm and until 12 on a Friday. We offer morning only hours with the ability to add hours as needed. Our lunches are meaty/parev and catered by the baby nurse using healthy and nutritious ingredients.

 

The nursery is split into 4 age appropriate classrooms taking children from 12 months old until rising 5’s.

 

We are able to offer fee2 places as well as the 15 and 30 hour 3 year old grants.

 

Gan Yachad

Gan Yachad was established over ten years ago and serves the local orthodox community in Hendon.  It was previously based at Hendon United Synagogue, but recently relocated to Kisharon College. The Nursery provides a warm, loving and caring environment helping children to develop to their full potential at their own pace. It is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am-1.00pm and can take up to 26 children. From September 2018 it will be open until 3pm. In the winter months the Nursery closes at 12 noon. Children bring a morning snack and a parev (non-milky and non-meaty) lunch, and milk and water is provided.

 

Gan Yachad is registered with Ofsted and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage. It celebrates all Jewish festivals and holds a Shabbat party every Friday to which parents and grandparents of the Shabbat family are invited. Parents are also invited to Chanukah, Purim and end of year parties. A weekly newsletter is sent home informing parents of what the children have learnt during the course of the week.

 

In their last Ofsted inspection in January 2017 the nursery was rated as “GOOD”.

 

Gilah Nursery

Gilah is an Orthodox Jewish nursery for children from the age of 18 months until primary school.

 

The nursery organises its sessions so that children can choose from, and work, at a variety of activities and in doing so build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion. The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.

 

Open 07.30 to 18.00 Monday to Thursday, 07.30 – 12.00 Fridays.
